Fees for Customs Clearance

The special tax for the completion of customs formalities at the Romanian border imposed on vehicles involved in the international transport of goods amounts to US $20 per vehicle and per trailer or semi trailer. Forwarding companies at all border crossing points are authorised to receive payment of these taxes in convertible currency. Vehicles registered in Romania as well as those registered in countries which do not impose such taxes on Romanian vehicles, are exempted from the payment of this tax. If a document which was issued to a vehicle entering Romania and which is required for control purposes on leaving Romania, should be lost, it may be replaced at a cost of US $62.
