PRESS RELEASE
January 14, 2015

Germany is creating a dangerous precedent for the EU, by imposing its national regulations on the other 27 EU Member States, without the European Commission or the European Parliament!

By abusively imposing its own minimum wage law on the foreign road haulers, Germany is creating a dangerous precedent for the European Union – imposing its national regulations on the other 27 EU Member States, without the European Commission or the European Parliament!
The protective measures taken by Germany starting this year, are severely affecting the liberty of services on the European market – the basic principle on which the European Union is based.
With this dangerous approach, EU is going towards self-destruction. The EU is more powerful united, not devised and it is very important this is achieved until it is not too late.

The National Union of Road Hauliers from Romania is expressing its concern on the new approach by Germany, which can push Europe on a road of neo-protectionism which in the end will effect the EU competitivity compared to other global competitors!
In this critical European context, UNTRR has taken many steps on national, European and international levels, against the enforcement of Germany’s minimum wage law on the Romanian hauliers, like:
- UNTRR intercession on the
Romanian Government – Prime Minister; Minister of Transport; Minister of Labor, Family, Social Protection and Elderly; Foreign Minister
- Informing the President of the Competition Council
- UNTRR intercession on the European Commission – Commissioner for Transport; Commissioner for Competition; Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility;
- UNTRR intercession on the European Parliament – on all the Romanian members of the Parliament and on all 732 members of the European Parliament;
- UNTRR intercession on the Chancellor of Germany, on the German Ambassador in Romania, on the German Customs – the authority enforcing this law for the foreign hauliers and on the road hauliers associations in Germany - BGL and BDO;
- UNTRR intercession on IRU – International Road Union and on all road hauliers associations members of IRU;
- UNTRR intercession on FIATA - International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations and USER – Romanian Freight Forwarders Association

All UNTRR intercessions on this matter and the answers from the national, European and international authorities and institutions are published on our website at this address: old.untrr.ro/interventii-untrr-la-autoritati.html

UNTRR is still taking action coordinating with other road hauliers associations in the Eastern Europe like MKFE-Hungary, ZMPD-Poland, LINAVA- Lithuania, etc. If our actions will not receive an urgent answer from the European authorities, we are not excluding a common protest action in Brussels.
